if you're to be fair, china is less stressful and more relaxed than america, and you can take a dumpster diver picture from america and pretend that's the norm too

I'm not saying social security is bad, its just not a way to eliminate poverty as it is after all a Ponzi scheme at best. My business brings me in contact with many recipients . The overwhelming majority do not even have the 1.00 available on their accounts that it takes to verify their accounts are open after the 3rd of the month. It is a system that should work better, with a larger benefit for those participating, but it has been borrowed from, robbed and exploited by both political parties through the years. It has been broadened to the point where the fraud is uncontrollable, which is what seems to happen anytime you have one centralized government trying to manage everything in the lives of so many people.

the principle of social security is far from a ponzi scheme because ponzi schemes collapse quickly. social security has to be sustainable and the flow of money cannot be kept secret or fraudulent. you seem to be in contact with the american version of social security which is just a big trust fund that does not attract any government contribution. the government teaches socialism is evil because it would essentially force government contribution and reduce their power.

True to be fair... but I wouldn't use China as any kind of a shining example. The image is only to show that they have extreme poverty levels also. The oppression level there far outweighs any benefit, and our country is heading in that direction at warp speed. I would say your other examples are a better argument than China. Where we screw it all up here is, by trying to create the Hybrid democratic-capitalist-socialist nation.

china is the most populated country in the world and yet some recent studies show poverty at 7%, whereas america in 2012 the percentage of seniors living in poverty was 14% & 18% of children. btw most countries benefiting from socialist values are a hybrid

I spent too many years dealing with people behind the great firewall to believe anything that comes out of that country. We will have to agree to disagree here.

they are reports directly from the citizens based on their payslips, it's not done through the government and is voluntary

those elderly poverty rates are actually a decrease to 14% from 2009 because of social security benefits

You want to live on that and tell me you aren't poor? Go for it. Limit yourself to 1200.00 a month and tell me how out of poverty you are.

The way I took what you were saying was that less were in poverty because of social security, did I take your meaning wrong?

2013 bureau census found that the addition of Social Security benefits contributed more to reduce poverty than any other factor. A 2013 UNICEF report ranked the U.S. as having the second highest relative child poverty rates in the developed world
