Hattie McDaniel is my favorite character in "Gone With The Wind", as you can imagine, here in Atlanta, it's a hometown favorite, even though it gets burnt down! The only thing I dislike strongly was when it premiered here in Atlanta, Hattie McDaniel was forced (democrat's Jim Crowe laws) to go in through the back doors! Even though she won and Oscar! But that thankfully was a different time, and doesn't exist here anymore! But, damn, I sure didn't want it to sound like I'm shipping black folk out! Lol

Ahhhh, yea, I can relate!! When I moved here to Atlanta when I was 16, there were still a lot of the older generation living around us who still had Mammys" so to speak. Our next door nieghbor had a "Mammy" and she came over and helped us set up for my sister's wedding. She wasn't as big as Hattie, she was the funniest, most lovable lady I've ever met! And the phrases she spit out! OMG! She had my whole family cracking up! I got to know her very well I she told me that she was my Mammy! God Bless her soul! This was the first few years this Pittsburgh boy came to the South, I didn't know what to expect, but I fell in love with it here, mostly because of my Mammy! ;)
