Actually,.. the southern democrats in the bible belt would argue this point with me. They just want the constitution changed to meet their needs of "hope and change" for obama. (Sigh)

It was about damn time. Got tired of people assuming all the benefits of US citizens belonged to the whole world. It's time we take care of US first. We have been spreading American wealth all over the world and it's diluting everything we've worked so hard to build.

I think that "Starship Troopers" (the book, I don't know if they reference it as heavily in the movie) had it right...if you want to be a citizen then you have to serve first.

That's funny, I actually thought of Starship Troopers while coming up with this. They do reference citizenship for service a fair bit in the movie. The 'TV commercials' inside the movie talk about it. If I recall, basically, you had to serve your country or be successful and become influential in order to become a citizen. Only those who contributed benefited.

Yes, the book is better, but I say that about 99% of movie adaptations.

Bro!! That is an awesome book! I was deployed when I read it! Movie version did not portray how citizenship was earned. Thats awesome brother!

I suppose, I don't remember how or if that was addressed in the book. I guess one could do volunteer work, americorps, etc.

the fact that corporations are granted the same rights as citizens is a problem though
