Since moving from Cali to the midwest I don't see near as many as I used to. They have a ton of churches here that take care of most people down on their luck. One time I was doing "community service" for some "traffic tickets" at a place that supposedly helped out everybody. I was in this semi trailer full of clothes sorting stuff people had donated. These two guys in army fatigues with huge backpacks came up to me. They were literally walking from Chicago to Florida, they said to get to a job down there. They asked if they could "trade" for some warmer coats. I let them grab whatever they wanted out of the trailer lol. I thought that the people that donated it would have done the same. What bothered me most is that some of the church volunteers would sort through some of the donations and take stuff for their church yard sale. So I felt redeemed helping a couple of vets like that, the dude doing community service being kinder than the church volunteers lmao.
