I owned a model 29 44 mag.. used to carry the 44 special rds.. loved that gun!

In the "I wish I had never traded it off" department, I had a Ruger Redhawk .44 Mag with a 4" barrel. I handloaded 225 grain LSWC rounds in .44 Special brass. A little more oomph than factory specials, but nowhere near the noise and recoil of factory magnums. That gun is one of many I wish I had kept instead of getting starry eyed over the "latest and greatest" stuff. :-(

I have several I wish I never sold off for new stuff.. one being a Belgian hi - power and a Rugby security six.. to include the s&w mod 29. I NEVER trade or sell now.. learned my lessons.

Good for you! What was the length of the barrel on that Model 29. A friend of mine had the target variant Model 29 with a 11-12 in barrel on it. The sites were calibrated out to 200 yds.. It looked so cool, it was huge and was heavy as hell, which helped with the recoil!

6" barrel,... I could hit a pie plate at 50 yards with 3" group,... I never shot beyond that. I figure my M4 is for anything beyond that! ;) I have gone to the range and watched ass clowns shooting at 1-5 yards and bragg about shot groups with rifle and pistol. I like to test my firearms at least 25 and 50 yds with pistol... always 100 - 250yds with rifle. I have few optics,... only a scoped .22. but I have reflex sights on my other stuff. I figure I need to reach out there past 15 ft for the zombie apocolypse!

Yes, I've heard that, too! I think the gun that is the most overall fun to shoot, is a Ruger 10-22 with a scope. Call me silly, but what other gun can you have a blast with for $5? Seriously, I just talking a Saturday afternoon, with the kids, or not and have a blast? Am I crazy?

.22 ammo is getting pricey now too,... but you are not crazy! When I want to plink...I get the 22! years ago before all the .22 conversion kits for M4's came out,.. I bought 5000 rds of .22 LR for $100. Can't touch it now for that price!
