That is speculation. The Bible does indicate that Adam and Eve had numerous progeny but it does not explain why they were all exiled and how they gathered East of Eden to build the city of Nod.
You either have to believe that all of Adam's and Eve's children except the first two, Cain and Abel, left (or were banished) from the Garden of Eden and all gathered together to build a city and live away from God and his gift of the Garden of Eden or that there were other humans who didn't come from Adam and Eve. And that is what Clarence has just realized.

Adam and Eve were banished from the garden before Cain and Able were born. Cain was banished to Nod long after they were banished from the garden.

You also have to remember that they lived hundreds of years and therefore produced many, many children. They didn't just have 8 children and that's it. They literally had dozens each.

Adam and Eve were banished before they had Cain and Abel- I reread and you are correct. Nevertheless, Genesis 4 tells us
that Adam and Eve had Cain and Abel and Cain went to the land of Nod after he killed Abel and there he made love to his wife. Genesis 5 then tells us that after Adam had lived 130 years he had Seth, and then many other sons and daughters. So the many other sons and daughters came after Cain found his wife in Nod.

The land of Nod was empty for a while.
