Ok, I'll spill a bit before I burst. I was so livid when I first heard this....we'll just say it wasn't pretty. Repealing "don't ask, don't tell" and now women in combat totally strips away the Marine Corps most basic tenant: uniformity. That uniformity is necessary for ensuring total force cohesion. One mind, one fight. It was a crucial component to the Marine Corps for 236 years, and I would say one of the reasons battles were never lost once. Infantry units and gays don't mix. They are awkward to be around. They complain and it causes problems. Add women and that compounds the problem exponentially, especially because of the added sexual component. No civilian and most of the non-infantry military have any concept of the operational environment. It will destroy camaraderie, no question. The future is uncertain, and you can't win on the battlefield when you are losing at home.
