+1 You are asking a good question, and there is a good answer.
Quite simply put, it's the 'human factor'. Where there is a will, there is a way. Humans have will, tools do not. No amount of gun laws have ever stopped or will ever stop a determined terrorist. Even if you manage to remove one tool, the human factor of will will find another way, even more destructive.
Take Paris for example. France has restrictive gun laws, yet the will of the terrorists won by thoughtlessly disregarding France's laws and obtaining and using automatic weapons in their attacks.
The Syrian refugee 'crisis' is artificial. The muslim countries surrounding Syria have more than enough capacity to take care of the actual refugees, and take care of them in their native culture. That they would have nowhere to go is absolutely false.
Stopping the influx of Syrian refugees is about stopping the human factor of terrorism, the only one that really matters.
