I'd say that is a poor argument and I'd say what kind of bullshit justice system is that. I'd also say show me the stats.
Keeping drugs (all drugs) illegal is ONLY a money making scheme because the gubmint doesn't give a rat's about your "well being" lol

I was sure that wouldn't be popular and there are a lot of anecdotal arguments to be made otherwise. U.S. Sentencing Commission provides the statistics. The legal system allows all kinds of plea bargaining hundreds if not thousands of times each day, its the system we have. Is it a revue generator? It could be but that is a different argument.

We know you did this other thing that is bad but for many reasons that have nothing to do with justice we are going to ignore those charges and let you plead guilty to something that we have no right to make a crime in the first place. By doing this we not only generate an ass ton of wealth for ourselves but we make it so that the general, law obeying public AS WELL AS the criminals choose to keep these laws. The general public because they believe that drugs are evil (as we have explained to them) and the criminals because serving 12 months for weed is a lot better than serving 5 years for stealing.
As for stats from the very people running the very racket in question ... mmm. I suppose I would want someone non-biased to interpret the stats they put out ;-) Sorry. I guess I shouldn't have asked for stats in the first place. :-)

:) Yeah, for the stats question its kind of hard to give them from any other source. There is plenty of room in the system for improvement I agree. We may never see eye to eye on what improvements can be made, but truest me when I say I have/had a LOT of skin in this game.

There is certainly room for improvement. "Little Johnny, I believe you went in mommy's purse and stole $100. That has NOTHING to do with justice.
In a "free land" unless a person is outright harming another person no one should try to tell them what they are and are not allowed to do. There should be no "pre-crime" laws. There should be no victimless crime laws. There should only be laws based on things that cause direct, intentional harm. And how they are carried out should be decided by the people in each district of each state.
I bet we would agree on a lot more than is able to be conveyed in this format :-)
