I actually found and started using imgflip to make a few personal memes I could post on FB. I didn't even care about downvotes or points! Still really don't! I just enjoy making a meme now and then. Specially when someone ruffles my feathers on FB...I make a meme pertaining to them but they can't prove it! ????

Naw! I don't care about downvotes. I think most I get aren't because the meme sucks it's to hinder me by my competition!

A lot of people think that on this site (that people downvote others for competition) but I don't think it's likely.

The reason why I don't think that is because I've advanced really quickly up the top 100 leaderboard. If people in those slots were jealous for their points, or were using alts to downvote others and keep their memes high, I would have been a target. But so far, I haven't been subjected to any downvotes in any systematic way.

So although I do see people getting in flame wars with each other occasionally, and downvoting for that reason, I really don't think it's common practice on imgflip for people to downvote each other for competition.

I agree for the most part, but lately it seems all my memes get at least one downvote. I think I've downvoted one meme once. I'm on here to make memes and have fun-not be an ass!

[image deleted]Seems like a pretty good attitude. The points are fun and a good way to challenge yourself, or compete with others, but it doesn't seem worth worrying about them, since you can't control who downvotes you or who doesn't.

And I think if you worry about the points it hinders the true creative process behind making a good meme, I've decided. There's always going to be someone who disagrees most likely.
