If they had ANY facility to manufacture a TIE fighter, they'd use the advanced model. But you don't get that, just like you don't get that is Disney's explanation, not the ROTJ and EU explanations. And no, I'm not saying they say it directly in ROTJ, but it is implied by the equal distribution of the Interceptor to the TIE/LN.

Another thing, you're just googling your info, I actually read the x-wing series of novels and play(yes, still play) The X-Wing series(X-wing, TIE FIghter, X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, BoP, and X-Wing Alliance) of simulators. They corroborate the EU(the real canon of SW).

They're only using the old TIEs for the visual effect of it on people's nostalgia for SW. That's bullshit and a bitch move to just sell merch. Disney is just copying the OT, cherrypicking the EU to fill in a great deal of the film, and then add in their usual agenda of materialism and conformity. They're already humanizing a f**king stormtrooper for crying out loud. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills! lol

And your GL is the real SW is bullshit to a degree. He had to sign off on all the novels/comic books/games. They all had to conform to a set of rules that GL put out and they had to ask his permission for things like the Solo kids and Thrawn's character. The games especially had his involvement. And especially TFU. And yeah, GL did give people inklings and hints into his 7-12 movie ideas. They weren't allowed to kill Luke for instance. But they were allowed to kill Chewie off in NJO. Which was f**king epic. Old Han Solo kicks Bossk's ass for talking shit about Chewie's death. Tell me with a straight face that that shouldn't have been in the movie?

I think he should have directed a trilogy that took place in the Yuzhan Vong NJO series. It would have been f**king epic as shit. It's like GL has a DBZ interest with the way he added midichlorians(power levels) and the way the EU had Anakin Solo go out like a f**king badass(he basically went Super Saiyan Jedi). Again, how/why should this not be the film?

As for that second comment: you're still wrong. See above dumbass. Wookiepedia has actually lost a lot of what they had up about the EU. But you wouldn't know that because you don't actually read any of it. Read X-Wing(takes place after ROTJ). They still have TIE/LNs, but they focus on the bent wing updated versions more in the EU. The Interceptor, Defender, and the Phantom. I know SW. :)

You need to read wookiepedia some more. George Lucas had to sign off on the plots for ALL of the EU. That's why he had rules like Luke can't die and no more Wookie Jedis after Lowbacca. lol You're just mad because you don't know how to make a point without cussing someone out like a teen. :)

He didn't sign off on the plots, he signed for them to have permission to use his back story to write their own stories. He gave them permission with those rules, but didn't tell them anything else to write. So like I have been stating, NONE OF THE EU BOOKS IS PART OF THE CREATOR'S VISION ON STAR WARS AND SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR FUTURE MOVIES.
