OIC try and use what I said about animals and emotions. No, plants have pain just like animals. Pain is to tell you "take your hand out of the fire stupid! The body is being damaged!" Plants have that too. They're just slow. Watch a video of a cannabis grow room time lapse. Then regular plants. :l

I would say that plants are an organism that experiences time differently than animals and they function on a slower rate than others. They feel pain but because of how "slow" they are we don't notice it. But in time lapse we probably could test it. :l

In order for pain to be felt, there would have to be nerves in the organism and a brain for the nerves to send messages to, then the brain would have to be large enough to comprehend the messages which is why most fish don't feel pain, they're brain is too small and simple. And from that meme that was on the front page yesterday, plants do send chemical messages when being picked or torn, but only to through their roots and cells to give information of missing parts that need to be grown back. Plants however, can respond to stimuli such as sunlight and a fly nearby but it doesn't mean they have they capability of pain.

Plants don't have the same layout that animals do. That's why they used to think they didn't feel pain.

But they've found out that they try to move away from damage and that they warn others of they're type when they are damaged.

They do feel pain though. My point is, people shouldn't feel guilty for meat or plants. Everything consumes something to survive. :l
