My experience and that of other Athiests I have come across is that the greatest single cause of Athiesm is actually reading the Bible. It sure cured me.
Since all people are born with a sin nature, and are inclined to hate God by the disposition of their hearts, I don't think that's the greatest cause. However, it's probably a significant contributor.
