I did a quick search and saw an article, on the blaze, that attributes the lack of guns, on base, to a DoD dirrective passed during the first Bush presidency. Not sure if it's the answer, but either way it needs to be changed now! BTW my son is in the Air force, so I'm biased.

As a former contractor on military bases, I can personally say that it goes back farther than that. They carried weapons, but with no clips. Btw.....GO AIR FORCE!
