Just wish they had a mute button like a GPS. Lol.

The thing is that they most likely are right on what they say. Just like a GPS. But since they have no experience they offer no "practical" advice, and probably nothing you didn't know. Knowing and doing are totally different stories. I don't have a kid and live together with my bro who has one. Not once I offered an advice even though being an outsider I could see things clearer. He has his own standards even if sometimes to me look wrong.

Being an outsider doesn't make you more likely to be right. Only having unique knowledge does that. Most of the time outsider status only means that the person is ignorant of one or more key aspects of the problem and is bringing nothing more than the impotent bromides of other childless parenting experts.

Morons tend to judge others background and experience. I'd appreciate a friend's advice even though he knows little about a subject.

To be clear I wasn't calling you a moron. I find your statement, "they offer no practical advice", to be true most of the time. A wise friend would understand that their advice probably won't be helpful, just as you don't offer your bro advice scince you understand the complexities of raising a child. That said, if you live with a child it's not really inappropriate to offer advice from time to time.

No offense taken, none given. A friend is a friend, and everyone fails. There's good advice, and bad one you judge. I wouldn't call them a moron per se. Otherwise they wouldn't be my friends. Actually I try to not use that word at all even though some people might deserve it. Calling names even when you're justified doesn't make you better. Especially to a friend or family member.
