Catch all the pokemon!

Why would you catch pokemon? sure, you win fights, but really, you enslave several species and have them fight (basically, abuse). they get drowned, poisoned, electrocuted, crushed, and yet they gain no benefit from capture... So, why do you capture them?

What did I do to deserve this rant? all I did was ask why... I'm not trying to force anything. In fact, I love to eat hamburgers. Pokemon is a different story though... I'm just trying to be rational about this...
