Communism on a national level has never been proven to serve the people as well as envisioned by its proponents. In a communist country the state owns almost everything while government bureaucrats are responsible for deciding how to allocate "the people's resources". Usually the bureaucrats end up living the most comfortably while the people do all the work. I wish I could explain it better, but I'm not half as good at texting as I am talking. I would suggest you do some reading up on the former Soviet Union to get a clear picture of how oppressive communism can be.
Capitalism on the other hand is all about private ownership of property and resources. It isn't perfect either, but it has done more to improve the overall quality of life for "the people" than communism has or ever will.
