The Most Interesting Man In The World Meme | ANY God who demands respect and love through fear of damnation doesn't deserve it from anyone | image tagged in memes, the most interesting man in the world | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

Well, let me put it this way. Heaven is a place for perfect beings. The reason that there is a phrase "I'm only human" is because people are imperfect. We are imperfect, so we don't deserve to go there. So any chance of heaven is incredible.

So you're saying that NO-ONE is in Heaven because NOBODY is perfect? Whats the point of it then? From what you said, it just sounds like the we're the donkey and heaven is the "carrot on the stick"

Everyone CAN get to heaven: it just takes a lot.

Matrix Morpheus Meme | WHAT IF I TOLD YOU THE CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE WASN'T THE LEAST BIT CONCERNED WITH WHAT WE BELIEVE; AND HE/SHE CERTAINLY WASN'T RACIST. | image tagged in memes, matrix morpheus | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

Have you even read the bible, or any form of religious book? Your "creator" / "lord" is ridiculously racist, sexist and evil. Anyone who believes in that book is a moron.

Bring on the down votes

Okay, disagreeing with someone's beliefs is fine, but when you attack them for what they believe, then you're crossing the line...
0 ups, 10y,

Attacking someone for what they believe is ok, depending on WHAT they believe. Some people believe its ok to hit women, shoot animals for fun, blow up buildings or cut off peoples heads. Are you saying that I shouldn't "attack" these people either???

If someone comes at me making ridiculous claims about a creator, then I'm also entitled to stand up for what I believe, whether people agree with it or not.
2 ups, 10y,
1 reply
I'll admit, in extreme cases, certain beliefs should be discouraged, but in this case, as well as 99% of other cases, people's beliefs aren't hurting anyone, and they shouldn't be attacked for them.

There's also a BIG difference between standing up for your beliefs and insulting other people for theirs...

"people's beliefs aren't hurting anyone"? Seriously??? Ever heard of ISIS, Muslim extremists, the Crusades? All groups that hurt, kill and destroy all in the name of religion.
What do atheists extremists do? We read books, make memes, and occasionally watch science programmes...and mock others.
1 up, 10y
"In extreme cases"
ISIS and similar organizations would fall under that category...

I don't believe the extremists are following any scriptures. Muslims are supposed to be peaceful and Christians are supposed to convert people on THEIR OWN will. Extremists are not really in the groups.
0 ups, 10y,

No religion follows any scriptures, they all just follow their own interpretation of whatever "religious book" they follow. Extremists go the extra mile and literally kill people for going against their religion or doing things their religion says is evil.
All religions CLAIM to be peaceful but very rarely are. If the Christian God was actually the "one true God" then it would make itself known beyond any doubt and therefore people wouldn't need "converting".

There are signs, you just need to pay attention to them. A little while ago, a car was in a ditch, and multiple people heard a person calling for help. When they got to the ditch, only a baby was in the car alive. So the call for help was, as I interpret it, an angel from God. You just need to look for the signs.
0 ups, 10y
No, they literally heard verbal words saying "help," not crying. You also forgot.
4, he's trying to show signs of what he can do.
As I said, they were words. Not crying. In response to about why the car fell, the child will grow up knowing that a miracle allowed it to live, and as we believe that God has all things in his hand/ under control, his/her life was never at risk.
0 ups, 10y
As I said before, if there truly is a God, we shouldn't have to look for "signs", he / she / it should appear so there is undeniable proof, not just a sign. A baby crying in a crashed car is NOT proof of an all powerful being, nor is it proof of angels. If there really is a God, why did he / she / it allow the car to crash in the first place putting a child's life at risk?
I'll tell you why, it can only be one of 3 things.
1, God made it happen because God is a sick and twisted being who gets joy from other people's misery,
2, God couldn't prevent it because he was either busy giving AIDS to babies in Africa or isn't as "all powerful" as people claim, or
3, God doesn't exist.

Standing up for what you believe is different from calling people who disagree morons.
0 ups, 10y,

I didn't say that people who disagree with what I believe are morons, I said that people who believe that book are morons. Baring in mind the Bible was written hundreds of years after the events in it are supposed to have happened, by people who couldn't agree on what actually happened. There are also a lot of pages from the original "scriptures" not in the current version of the bible because they are too ridiculous for "modern" religions.
People who claim to read and follow the "good word" of the bible do what's known as 'cherry picking' where they take only the parts that seem nice and remember them, but forget the THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of other nasty parts.
0 ups, 10y
People who disagree with you are people who read books such as the Bible. You said, quote " Anyone who believes in that book is a moron." You called thus called people who disagree morons.
0 ups, 5y
you are missed the point of this meme entirely
0 ups, 10y
Also, I notice the Bible (the only example you mention by name. Interesting) says nothing about these. If you're entitled to stand up for what you believe in, so am I. I am.

I wonder if you'll say that in the afterlife. I won't downvote, but I will ask why you think all religions are dumb. Isn't religious persecution the reason America was founded?
0 ups, 10y,

There isn't an afterlife. We're born, we live, some try to make the world a better place through science and reasoning, others try to stop the advancement of the human race by declaring things sinful and declaring damnation for people, then we die, and that's it. There is not one single teeny tiny shred of evidence to support the notion of a heaven or hell, in any sense.
Look around, if there was "one true God" surely now is the time for him to appear to everyone, so there is no doubt to its existence, especially now we, as a species, have left this planet and have started to travel away from the the place "He created" so we can live on other planets.
1 up, 10y,

If God just *Poof! I'm here, everyone!* appeared, what's the point? We're supposed to TRULY love him. There will always be doubters no matter what. That's part of it. We are tested by the doubt to see if we truly will stay with him no matter what by those who doubt. That shred of doubt makes religion so much better because we can say "We faced the world, and we stuck through with our religion. We truly know we love God"
Also, another point, how do we have morality without a higher being telling us what is good and bad? Humans, knowing us, would probably just say "Oh, that makes me feel good. It must be fine and good and there's no problem with it!" But not everything that FEELS good is so.
0 ups, 10y,
1 reply
If there is undeniable proof, which means proof that CANNOT be denied, the there wouldn't be any doubters. why are we supposed to love something that doesn't exist? Belief isn't enough. You don't need religion or belief to have morality. I'm an atheist, more anti-religion actually, but I know that harming people is wrong, I know that lying and cheating is wrong, not because of a deity but because it's human nature. Doing something that makes you feel good isn't morality, morality is doing things that aren't bad, or doing good things in the proper place.
Sex is good, in fact sex is amazing but I'm not going to "get the horn" one day and start with my girlfriend in the middle of town.
Drinking alcohol is good, within certain limits, but I'm not going to sit in a busy area and get totally hammered just to make myself feel better.
Helping other people is great, I do it because I like seeing other people happy and making their life easier, not because a so called "all powerful being" says I must.
0 ups, 10y
You know these are moral because you have been taught so. But Babies are humans who have had little influence from the outside world, right? But if a baby wants a toy, he/she doesn't ask. They slap the other baby and take it. When have you seen a baby child (again, the simpler, non-influenced humans) ask politely? Human nature isn't naturally good.
Also, you say belief isn't enough. So you haven't gone beyond death and come back, right? So how can you say, without a shadow of a doubt, there is no God? You BELIEVE that there is no God. Many people have met, talked to, and have a personal relationship with God.
I don't think drinking Alchohol is "good." It's okay in certain amounts, but just that: okay. It is not "good."

LMAO! I've read them extensively. That was the point of my meme. I do believe there is a God, but it certainly isn't the one the Bible, or the Qur'an, or the Torah talk about.

So the "God" you believe in is your own interpretation of a "God".

Absolutely. I'm an agnostic theist. Simply put: "Yes, there's a god. And none of us are capable of comprehending the characteristics of that being."

No worries. I'm not asking to try to start another war on here. I honestly feel bad for you having to go thru all that with Ginge74. I used to be a Mormon; before that I was Pentecostal. Neither of them really suited me.
