Some people have lives and have places to be. And no, not everybody has enough free time to leave two hours early for work every go***mn day.

So you respond by breaking the law and becoming a nuisance to those of us already obeying the speed limit?

I don't always drive that fast, personally, but sometimes I need to when people get in my way and I have to make up for lost time. It's fine if people want to drive the speed limit, but if they do something stupid like drive alongside somebody else so it's impossible to go around them, then I get pissed off.

...and anybody that does that shit on purpose is even worse than a speeder, IMO -- If you're willing to compromise your own safety and other peoples' just because I hurt your feelings by going a little fast, that's just sad. At least people in a hurry sort of have a legitimate reason for what they're doing.

So following the law is worse than breaking the law because following the law "compromises safety" somehow? What?

Driving the speed limit is not breaking the law, of course. That's not what I've got a problem with, though. Technically, driving next to somebody and blocking off the rest of the road is not illegal either, but it's still incredibly rude and also very dangerous. Not only is the person next to you less likely to see your car, but also you're greatly restricting the amount of space the both of you have to avoid hazards. Not only that, but you're going to make people in a hurry drive even more recklessly to try and get by you. So, when you say that speeding is breaking the law... exactly! It's not other people's job to stop speeders -- it's the cops' job, so get the hell out of the way and let them get caught instead of making things worse for everyone.

Here in Indiana, there is a new law called the "Slow Poke" law. If the person is next to you and not passing or is staying in the passing lane while people pass them on the other side, they get a Wreckless Driving ticket.

But your rates go up no matter what. They go up less if it's not your fault, but still. I don't know, maybe my insurance just sucks.
