I knew this was going to be 'controversial'. Just to clarify: I'm white myself. It just struck me like "Huh, well I'll be damned, I can't think of a single one. I guess the reason I never realized this before is because I am white. I wonder if children of different skin colour did notice it. Some of the action figures I played with as a child were black, so you can't say black toys just didn't exist back then. Actually, come to think of it however, there definitely wasn't and maybe still isn't (I can't be sure, I don't play with action figures anymore) an equal balance in skin colour of action figures. Obviously this has to do with just an inequality in the relative number of people of different skin colours in the countries where those toys were made. The numbers are kept somewhat proportional to the population of the marketed area - if toys were marketed for an African country, they'd be mostly black. But as western countries have grown more multicultural, I would expect an equal growth in multiculturality for action figures. I wonder if that is in fact happening..." I tend to have an extensive inner monologue... And I know it seems innocent, and it probably is, but it really just struck me.
