I don't know if #racetogether was a good or bad idea... I think the idea BEHIND it was well meant. I'm not racist; I have African-American friends. My boss is African-American and AWESOME. I think people should be judged by their character, their actions, not their skin color, and I think we need to stop making everything about race and assuming everything anyone says or does has to do with race. But whether or not #racetogether was a good idea isn't really my point. The point is, the baristas didn't have anything to do with it. We had no say. It wasn't our idea. And I wish people would stop judging OR congratulating us for it. :(

As for the idea that "color-blindness" or whatever you'd call my philosophy is just another form of racism because it dismisses African-American culture as a bad thing: NO! It has nothing to do with culture! Here's what I think about culture in general: if Liberals really want us to stop pigeon-holing people ("this or that's a guy or girl thing," for example), then WHY do they pigeon hole people by race, etc? We need to stop saying "this or that is a black or white thing." Why can't we all be individuals and make our OWN "cultures"? Why can't Caucasions enjoy foods and music and styles etc. traditionally thought of as "black"? Why can't African-Americans enjoy foods and music and styles etc. traditionally considered "white"? There are good and bad things about bad and good cultures, and I think we should get to pick and choose and enjoy the rewards or consequences of our own decisions and actions. Why's that so wrong? What makes that racist? X(

culture and style is often hardcoded into our dna, stereotypes come from legitimate sources. The fact is there are significant and remarkable differences between races
