Actually, both are correct. While "octopi" is generally the more common and accepted term, it is not normally used in most edited publications because it has no etymological basis, being replaced instead by "octopuses." Another version is "octopodes," which I personally find to be the coolest. :)

Actually, octopi are mollusks, whereas spiders are arthropods. They have the same number of appendages, but the similarity ends there. Yes, I realize I'm being over-technical.
