Sad truth, an idol, and professor of mine advised against becoming a teacher, claiming the benefits weren't worth it and that he could barely sustain a family. :/

I died a little inside when he told me this, one because he was not only a fantastic teacher and person but also because I was honestly considering becoming one somewhere in my future.

RIP to all those awesome people who guide us through our youth, with little financial stability to show for it.

did you know a teacher can get grant money to buy a house at half its market value? also, teachers make better than some other jobs. I wonder if perhaps he is not a good money manager. there are people bringing down six figure incomes that complain about not making enough, so it mostly boils down to proper money management.

That's true. But I suppose when you're populating like a bunny, any money managing might become tight.
