If you lose a bad luck contest, does that mean you have terrible luck and you deserved to win?

I was gonna do that, but it didn't make sense. Here's the original:
If you lose a back luck contest, but you get hurt, thrown off a plane, dismembered, shot and stabbed every day, does that mean you should have won, just because you lost the contest?

Well makes sense, but I guess that's the "bad luck" part in it. That after you lost it you don't get the price even though you ended up the one with the worst luck. It can go on infinitively if you keep analyzing it. That's why overthinking memes too much is pointless 😄
