In every state, executions are open to and witnessed by quite a few people. The list includes prosecutors, victims, prison officials, a couple members of the press, and there are limited slots for the public in many instances.

In oppressive states, executions happen in the dark with no one knowing.

No one is making anybody watch it. Live-streaming it makes the room bigger for those who do want to see justice served.

Speaking of which, I'd like to see Japan doing that to Shinji Aoba one day.
