Why don't you go work at a food pantry as a volunteer, or work as a volunteer at a hospital, or take a job with DHHS where you take applications and calls explaining to people why they don't qualify. I for one am very disappointed in the new rules regarding the recertification monthly or every 6 months. Management knows why we have nobody who wants to work for DHHS, especially when superstore and fastfood pay more, but it's the insurance benefits that keep most workers. I digress. When you clearly see an application that falls under the income threshold by half, and monthly income has been verified, their is no stupid reason for 5 phone calls to be handled, and telling the individual that they need to submit all the bills they pay in the household. We went from a common sense bill deduction, to requiring the applicant to submit bills that very monthly. This is causing a strain on food pantries that rely on donations. Most food pantries are distributing expired food, which should be illegal. If stores can't sell expired food, food pantries shouldn't pass expired food onto the needy. I remember when trump during covid had food pantries distribute letters from the president. Now we hand out forms to the individual asking about income and household size. Use to be that we couldn't hand out forms, and accepted anyone who was coming through the food line. I'm just upset that society is heading into a selfish don't help the needy direction.
