I ended it at a cliffhanger where the Sprouts returned to the Dream Realm, which got turned into a place of nightmares by Eternal. And in this comment thread, I'm gonna write out what I imagine the last stand against him being like. So without a further ado, let's go!

The Sprouts enter the Dream Realm, thinking that they're safe from Eternal as long as they're near the Dream Village, and play together while stargazing. However, they notice how the realm is starting to become corrupted; the soft, cloudy terrain becomes hard and rocky, the trees begin to die, and the stars go dim and fall from the sky.

Suddenly, manifestations of monsters, including the Endwyrm, the Bu creature, giant Fungeon mushrooms, and a clone of Quest Sprout possessed by the Foolsblade, appear and begin to approach Quest Sprout. Momma Sprout tries to intervene, only to for her spells and attacks to have no effect on the monsters. The monsters then chase Quest Sprout, who runs off in fear. Momma Sprout tries to pursue the monsters to save him, but is suddenly attacked by a giant hand trying to capture her.

Back in the mortal realm, Langeschwert, Mincer, Hack, and Hash, who are walking across the Questwood and talking about how nice it is that Quest Sprout and Momma Sprout are back together, find the Sprouts and notice how they seem to be having nightmares while asleep. They try to wake them up, but to no avail. The Dream Princess then opens a window from the Dream Realm to tell the group that Eternal has corrupted the Dream Realm, and that he's trying to get revenge on the Sprouts. The group then joins her in the Dream Realm to help her find the Sprouts to save them.

Momma Sprout, chased by the giant hand, quickly runs to a place filled with dead trees and bushes. There, she gets a sinking feeling that she's not alone, with the sound of footsteps being heard, getting louder and louder. She summons her sword* and scouts the area for anything that could be watching her. The mysterious figure, revealed to be a crowlem, sneaks up from behind her, but Momma Sprout, suspecting that something was right behind her, blasts a spell at it.

*It's a headcanon I have where, as the Guardian of Light, Momma Sprout can summon her own sword made of energy to defend herself. Lake Queen, Guardian of Water, can do this, too.

She then kills the crowlem, which fades away, but is soon attacked by a sword hydra, which starts to gain an advantage on her. Remembering how she fought the forest lich, Momma Sprout puts her fear aside and continues fighting, successfully killing the sword hydra, its corpse disappearing just like the crowlem's. She then realizes that her fears are being manifested in the Dream Realm, and that she faced them during the day.

Quest Sprout, separated from Momma Sprout as well as his wooden sword and shield, hides behind a dead tree as the realm falls into darkness. He thinks that he's going to die until he remembers that he has his powers. He unleashes a spell to make himself glow, lighting his way through the darkness. A giant hole manifests in the ground, with Quest Sprout nearly falling in, hanging on from the surface. Remembering how he was able to escape sinking in mud, he calms himself down and successfully climbs out of the hole, which fades away. He too realizes that his fears are manifesting and that he faced them earlier.

Momma Sprout is once again attacked by the giant hand, which grabs her and starts to take her away. She unleashes a spell that electrocutes the hand, forcing it to let go of her. She then fights it off, using a slicing spell to cut it apart. Once the hand fades away, she thinks that all her fears have been conquered until a cage manifests around her, trapping her inside it. When chains begin to restrain her just like in one of her nightmares, Momma Sprout begins to have a bit of a panic attack, but once again sets the fear aside. With the power of mind, she unleashes a spell that causes the cage to explode, freeing herself from it. After the fractured cage fades away, Momma Sprout summons her sword again, and searches for Quest Sprout.

Quest Sprout finds his wooden sword and shield and reequips them, preparing to face the rest of his manifested fears. After finding and following his light, the monsters fight Quest Sprout, one by one. Summoning the giant star sword and shield*, Quest Sprout fights back, killing nearly all the monsters, their corpses fading away. However, the wooden sword and shield get scared and run off when the possessed clone of Quest Sprout, wielding Mincer's sword, appears.

*I like to think that becoming the wielder of the wooden shield caused Quest Sprout to gain the ability to summon a matching shield alongside the star sword.

Quest Sprout dodges the attacks of his jester self, who lunges his morphed arms, swings Mincer's sword, and summons rubber balls at him. Eventually, the clone wraps Quest Sprout in ribbons and prepares to slice him, but Quest Sprout breaks free from the ribbons and unleashes a spell, which becomes blinding to his clone. He then blasts the spell at Mincer's sword, knocking it out of the hands of his jester self, who falls down due to the weight of his hands, tearfully cowering when Quest Sprout confronts him. Quest Sprout uses an exorcist spell to suck the Foolsblade out of his clone, who becomes happy to no longer be possessed and fades away. Quest Sprout then fights off the manifestation of the Foolsblade, tricking it into lunging itself at him so that he can summon his sword-breaking spell in its path. The Foolsblade explodes into a bunch of pieces, which all fade away, Quest Sprout's manifested fear fully disappearing.

Quest Sprout reunites with his wooden sword and shield, and Momma Sprout finds him, making herself glow so that he can see her. After finding each other, the Sprouts attempt to wake up so they can escape the corrupted Dream Realm, but discover that they can't. They then wonder if defeating Eternal is the only way to wake up. Eternal, meanwhile, sees that the Sprouts conquered their respective fears, and unleashes an army of nightmare demons to kill them.
