I haven't met any people who grandstand their good works to the world (at least not yet). But I have seen many corporations that make advertisements like this. They brag about how they collaborate with one or more charities, as if that's supposed to make you interested in their goods and/or services. To me, that indicates those corporations are not really that confident in their goods and/or services so they're using the charity as a crutch. What I believe really happens when people see these ads is that they skip the middleman and give their money or time to the charities themselves.
