In all honesty

Sonic would be the catalyst for Inkmatas to grow as a character

Sonic is, as he says himself, "just a guy who loves adventure". He doesn't care what the world thinks of him, he just wants to see everything it has to offer. His carefree nature would probably inspire Inkmatas to grow and love herself more, and allow her to ignore the criticisms people give her, and Sonic would support her every step of the way.
