Fear is too often demonized and vilified in our society, and treated as something that shouldn't exist. Many people want to eradicate all fear at all costs. The truth about fear is that fear often keeps you from doing stupid things. Fear helps you keep your priorities straight. Those who have little to no fear are the most likely to end up in jail or the emergency room, and the soonest to end up in caskets.
