the sad reality is that people think they are in the right for doing stuff like this (e.g. encouraging suicide, sending death threats, spreading defaming rumors), and more often than not they refuse to stop and think for one second that they might add onto the problem.

Little story about that: In the beginning of this year, activist and Tourette‘s patient John Davidson was invited to hold a speech at the BAFTA movie award ceremony after a movie about his life won multiple awards. However, on stage he had a Tourette‘s tic and accidentally called two black actors the n-word. So the internet tried to cancel him, for example by calling him a racist retard and telling him to kill himself.

That is messed up. Surely they knew he had Tourette's?

Yes they did, the whole movie and his whole act was about him having Tourette‘s

idk if the internet thinks they get bonus points or whatever for trying to cancel people, but that's one of the dumbest reasons to cancel someone I've ever heard of fs

When I found out about him getting hate for something he can't help it pissed me the f**k off cause I have tourettes aswell as you know and I know how it feels

The thing about people like this is that they're hypocrites. Normally they wouldn't care about the issue at hand, but because someone said something controversial, they either see an outlet for their anger or an opportunity to act like the hero.
