Had the red barrel of monkeys when I was 5/6 and would spend a LOT of time seeing how many I could link together without touchings more than the one I was holding.

Wow! Sounds like a great toy. Amazingly, it was inspired by the saying, "That was more fun than a barrel of monkeys."

Yes, the toy outlived the phrase. My dad said it a couple of times maybe, but I don't think it was as popular as the toy was by the time I had it in the 90s.

Sounds like my life... I wasn't truly disadvantaged (and if I was, I didn't realize it) but by the time I got a present, it was out of date. So, I just practiced piano...
