he is, actually. in the game he's refered to as a "crooked wizard", he's in a minigame where you click an orb, get tresures but if he pops up you lose everything cause he steals it from you and kicks you out of his tower

oh well it's because the character's eyes are glowing. and you can easily display a character's eyes glowing easier on the dark side of a face than compared to making glow on the bright side.

in short...it's easier to show the character's eyes glowing on a darker side of the face.
