What's up, y'all? Today [as of typing this], I went to Indigo (Canadian bookstore) and bought the two horror graphic novels from Adam Ellis! This is my review! In these books, there are multiple dark graphic stories. Some of them, we've seen before, the rest, we haven't. I won't give any spoilers for the stories you haven't read, besides some no-context two-word phrases that describe parts of them, because I HIGHLY recommend you check these books out in any way possible! Whether you buy them at a bookstore like I did, download them on your device, or borrow them at a library, you HAVE to read them if you love horror movies and novels! All of the stories in 'Bad Dreams in the Night':; - "Me and Evangeline at the farm" | Broken wall; - "Milk Door" | Trash can; - "Butter Corn Ramen"*; - "The Green Ribbon"*; - "Forest Fruit" | One survivor; - "Bus Stop"*; - "Hangnail"*; - "Better Kate than Never" | Petty nostalgia; - "Little House in the Sea" | Egg cycle; - "Murder Party" | Empty warehouse; - "Viola Bloom" | Taped card; *Previously seen on the Comics Stream. All of the stories in 'Let Me in Your Window':; - "Little Kingdom" | Child stars; - "Hello Charlie" | Feet pic; - "Apple Head" | Bloody stickers; - "Old Machines" | Neural link; - "Sleepwalker" | Scratchy Man; - "Rumble Queen" | Life support; - "Don't Look" | Severed hands; - "Sunken Express" | Ring sacrifice; - "Gospel of the Dead Moon" | Massive repair; - "ReBrand" | Google Translate; My review:; When it comes to horror, I tend to stay away from movies with that genre since I find it to be too scary and graphic. But with horror books, it's easier to digest since it's all silent, still images and text. Thus, I'm able to imagine all the sounds and action without getting scared. (I still wouldn't watch horror movies, though.); I first discovered Adam's horror stories on Reddit's r/Comics, and I began sharing them back in January of 2025. I was excited to hear that he had books of them being sold. So I got my mom to drive me to Indigo so I could buy them and; HO. LY. CRAP. This is, hands down, one of the greatest things a webcomic artist has ever made! To think that Adam went from making corny relatable Buzzfeed comics to THIS is insane! The way he's able to take certain things and reimagine them as horror stories is incredible! His modern-day artstyle really ties it all together, too! Even before buying the books, his work really reminded me of a book I read back in junior high called 'Through the Woods', which I also recommend to horror movie/novel fans! My favorite stories from BDITN are Butter Corn Ramen, The Green Ribbon, Bus Stop, Better Kate than Never, Murder Party, and Viola Bloom. My favorites from LMIYW are Hello Charlie, Apple Head, Old Machines, Sunken Express, and ReBrand. What I like about the first book is that Adam includes some notes that talk about the things that inspired the stories in it. IDK why the second one doesn't, and I wish it did, but I can still see what he was going for in those stories, too. He's got a lot more of these stories on Patreon, which I'm unable to post because you need a membership. But if you'd like to support him further, you can buy a membership to his Patreon and check out what else he has to offer! He posted that there may be another horror book in the works, which I look forward to buying if he goes through with it!
