I was just talking to a friend, who was at Dokomi (Germany‘s biggest festival for anime, manga, cosplay, and more). And they told me about a trans girl who went to Dokomi, and later got murdered and thrown into a river. The real problem however was how the media talked about it: They didn’t seem to take the topic serious, they seemed to not realize that a human being got murdered, and even straight up showed a picture of the corpse.

Hearing things like those genuinely makes me f**king sick. When people hear about transphobes, they might think about people who believe that trans women aren’t women, or that trans men aren’t men, but there are also transphobes who think that trans people aren’t people. But no matter someone’s identity, everyone has a right to live, and no murder should be silenced.

I don't know how to respond. I feel so bad for their family going through that grief, and then being the target of transgender violence.

Problem is, I also don’t know how to respond. I already sent some messages to my friend to help them mentally, but it seems like everything I say is wrong and makes the situation worse.

What makes it even worse is that trans people are more likely to be murdered than cisgender people. You shouldn’t want to kill someone because of who they are. You shouldn’t want to kill someone period.

That’s right. What I don’t understand is that most transphobes I know are Christians, but the Bible says „thou shalt not kill“, so who else would kill with transphobic intent?

I read through this, and even though I can be extremely transphobic at times, I condemn this behavior. Trans people, In my opinion, are still people, in my eyes. I share my sympathy with their family.
Nobody deserves to have a fate like that (being mocked after death).

These kind of people are what geniuly piss me off. People, no matter what they identify are still people! And as someone who is (either genderfuid or trans:nonbinary depending on the day?) it makes me so sad how some people are so desensitized! The fact that a few months ago they were sad about a monkey not having a mother (which is understandable) but with war and this and illness and prices and politics they look the other way! What the hell?!

My takes on trans identity are controversial and its a bad idea to say them but I dont think they should die what the f**k 😭 All condolences to them and their family
