No one “slaughters” Muslims. Those killings are often undertaken by small individuals or groups and are rightfully treated as hate crimes. Said individuals are treated justly and fairly by the secular government the crime was committed in.

And we DO talk about the injust killings and abuse of lgbtq, non-Christians, and others. Especially the Church. For example, during the Middle Ages, many lynchings, witch hunts, and executions were carried out by those with an incorrect understanding of the teachings of Jesus. The Catholic faith especially condemns and discourages these acts, because they are in direct contradiction of Jesus’ words.

Essentially, yes, while hate crimes by Christians do unfortunately occur, it is condemned, punished, and not encouraged by governments or religious institutions.

The War in Gaza would have been completely avoided had the December 7th attacks not been carried out, and the Hamas militants not hidden themselves among the civilian population. As for conflicts between established Palestinians and Israeli settlers, the government and international courts take action to prosecute them.

I think what people have to understand is that the Israelis actually had little choice. They took action to destroy pockets of Hamas resistance. Hamas hid itself purposefully in public places in order to force greater casualties on the civilian population, thus decreasing support for the war. Essentially, they themselves caused the severe damage you see today.

Hamas positioned itself in areas it knew could only be attacked with civilian casualties: apartment buildings, hospitals, and camps. The purpose of this was to inflict harm on non-combatants, forcing the IDF to flush them out at the cost of civilian safety. For the west, war is a clean, separate affair, conducted with strict rules like protection of non-soldiers. Terrorists, with lack of rules like this (as evidenced by their indiscriminate actions) know that the best way to lessen western support for a war is the killing of innocents. This, again, is evidenced by their use of hostages and executions. Israel, however, knew the stakes and refused to let a terrorist organization continue to harass them with impunity. War is a nasty affair, and unfortunately Gaza is a perfect example of that.

Palestinian land belongs to Palestinians, not Israelis

Well, the majority of the population in Palestine proper are Muslim, with minorities of Christians and Jews in the mix. The entire region has long been an area of mixed religion and culture. My point still stands, it belongs to everyone. Only when we find a balance can there be peace. It isn’t the fault of any one group or person, and we can’t rely on violence and hate to fix the problem. That just repeats the cycle.

Well, if we’re being specific, the Canaanites, who were then superseded by the Philistines, and while we may get the name “Palestine” from them, they actually came from elsewhere in the Mediterranean. The Israelites, too, came from elsewhere, and were succeeded the Muslims, themselves being from another country. In the end, there are no true “original” claimants to the region, as it has always been a crossroads of the world.

If you REALLY look at history, Palestinian land belongs to Christians, Jews, AND Muslims. It’s a long, hard road, but until it can be shared equally, there will be no peace. I’d think that as a communist, you’d understand that.
