Yes, not very many people knew how to read then. But a whole lot more people know how to read now. Maybe you live for the moment most of the time, maybe you plan a year or several years in advance, but God plans for eternity.

I actually plan for the future and betterment of mankind. You say that God plans for eternity, but you have no clear evidence of that, or that He even exists. I exist. You exist. It's just my opinion, of course, but I think that you should stop relying on things that you hope are being taken care of and get to work yourself.
