Social safety nets, such as OSHA, social security, and other New Deal programs held by FDR are socialism-inspired principles. The modern Nordic model is also inspired by moderate-socialist concepts. It's worked in every single functioning, free democratic state we have today. Anti-left propaganda held by the United States during the Red Scare and the Cold War made boomers this scared of the thing their own state's safety nets were inspired by.
