I have lots of respect for parents who use unvonventional or extreme methods to keep their kids in line. Those parents I applaud. I have zero respect for parents who know their kids are behaving badly and don't do anything to stop it.
We need to empower parents and applaud parents who do whatever it takes to keep their kids in line. But instead we straitjacket parents and ridicule them for "scaring their kids" or "traumatizing them" or "going too far", even if their.unconventional or extreme.methods actually work. Parents hit their kids because nothing else works.
