While we're at it, I have more ideas for my headcanon next chapter in the Sprouts' story.

After thinking about some of the other characters relevant to that part of the series, we could have it so that two more plots play into the main one: the Dream Princess attempting to dethrone Eternal as the true ruler of the Dream Realm, and Pest Sprout being given an ultimatum by Eternal, where he either helps the latter attack the Sprouts and stays alive, or doesn't and risks being killed by him.
The following are ideas for the Sprouts' nightmares and the fears they represent:
Quest Sprout:
- Being lost in a very dark cave (fear of the dark)
- Being attacked by the Endwyrm, the Bu creature, and giant Fungeon mushrooms (fear of monsters)
- Being in danger of any kind, with nobody there to save him* (fear of being alone)
- Seeing a vision of him attacking his friends and making a mess in the tavern when he was possessed and influenced by the Foolsblade, with his jester self then attacking him (fear of being possessed again)
*For example, sinking in quicksand or treading water.
Momma Sprout:
- Being stalked and chased by an unknown entity (fear of being snuck up on)
- Engaging in battle and being seconds away from dying (fear of not being strong enough)
- Being taken away by an evil force and disappearing forever (fear of being captured again)
- Being locked away somewhere with no hope of escaping (fear of being trapped for good)
Their shared fear of losing each other for good can be represented in various ways; Maybe Quest Sprout has a nightmare where Momma Sprout gets sucked into a portal, never to be seen again. Maybe Momma has a nightmare where Quest Sprout is killed by a monster. Maybe one of them has a nightmare where the other fades into nothingness. Maybe one them has a nightmare where the other is slowly dying.
There could also be a scene where, after he wakes up crying, Quest Sprout is comforted by Momma Sprout, who cuddles and kisses him while saying she'll always be there for him. And when he calmly falls back asleep, she's comforted by the sound and feeling of him breathing, and falls back asleep too. It would be a really wholesome scene to see.
