The main reason here though, speaking in terms of proper information and what-not, is that paths don't necessarily lead to compartments or rooms, & hallways do. So while a hallway can be a path, a path is almost undoubtedly not a hallway in most circumstances.

Path: a trodden way (meaning created by things walking on it)

Hallway: a passageway into which compartments or rooms open up.

So a Psycho Path is more attributable to what the person did prior to getting into that facility wandering the hallway.
