An event is caused by past events, so the past is incredibly important for people. If you "let go" of it, you will not see the future and not understand the present.

Not one event has ever been "caused by past events". Everything is happening right now.
Yesterday is gone. Heck, this morning is gone. When I started writing this is gone. Nothing you can do will ever stop time. Learn and move forward or be stuck in memories instead of what's happening now.

But even if they're gone, they are required to see the present. You couldn't be typing that if you weren't conceived, phones were invented, imgflip was created, and many other events. Even though the past is gone, it has still taken an effect on us, and will have an effect on the future.

We only live right now. Before and after right now does not exist. Now, right now, is all there is. Yesterday is a memory. Tomorrow hasn't happened. There is only right here. Right now. You can argue against it and try to live in your past if you want but since it is impossible... seems like an awful lot of wasted time.

I get what you're saying. We learned stuff along the way but that wasn't us and that wasn't now. That was for them. Now is for us. We wake up and know what we know today. We do what we can with what we know today. Here we are. It makes no difference how we got here or where we're going. It only matters what we do right now.

Without before, we wouldn't have now. If there wasn't a before, then there wouldn't be a now, and the knowledge from the before helps us in the now. But even if we don't forget it, we still need to think about the future as well.

Eventually it will become the present, and living only in the now does not allow us to prepare for the future. If we were only living in the present, that would lead to many bad consequences, but if we consider the past and present, we may eventually be able to achieve a good present.

Time always moves toward the future; Nothing can stop, slow or reverse what has already happened so we must remember to always keep moving forward; But what's that; shadowy place over there? The past we must let go of in order to keep moving forward
