He filmed Psycho in 1960 under the restrictions of the Motion Picture Production Code. If he waited until 1968, when the Motion Picture Production Code was replaced with the MPAA age rating system of today, he could have been much more faithful to the original novel. The original novel by Robert Bloch had Marion Crane get decapitated in the shower.
