As much as I think this whole "Inner Light" thing is cool, it feels just as shoehorned in as the Birthday Blade is.
There was nothing establishing that characters in the series had this and can use it. If it was shown and explained earlier on, then it would've been cool.
Not to mention that we saw Quest Sprout summon a giant star sword a couple threads earlier.* I don't know what was stopping Matthew from bringing it back for this scene. It just seems very redundant to me.
