Final thoughts:
Quest Sprout being in Swords Comic will always be something I'll appreciate, but with all of the flaws that I've pointed out throughout the marathon, I'm gonna have to give his story a 5.5/10, which I hate to give to an otherwise amazing story.
It's just the fact that there are so many writing issues, plot holes, and wasted potential. These are the biggest gripes I have with it:
- Most of the characters getting very little screentime
- No explanation to how Eternal Slumber captured Momma Sprout and why
- The Birthday Blade and the Inner Light being shoehorned in without any prior appearances
- No real danger to lift the stakes of the rescue mission
- Momma not being shown with powers
- Eternal doing absolutely nothing despite being outsmarted
- No battle between the Sprouts and Eternal
However, NONE of this affects my liking of Quest Sprout or Swords Comic in any way, and I'll always appreciate Matthew's work. It's just that I wish he put a bit more effort into the writing, because I know it could've been better in certain parts of the story. If you don't agree, that's cool. I won't try to change your mind.
What matters is that Quest Sprout and Momma Sprout are finally reunited, and we will see them return when Swords Comic does!
Once again, thank you all so much for participating in the Quest Sprout Marathon, reading my commentary, and having fun with me throughout the month! Have a great day/night! :)
