I'm a Christian, and I don't believe this is true.

It's a heavily exaggerated truth.

I see.

Jesus is God. Mary and Joseph are not God.

Quite obviously true. Mary and Joseph do deserve a lot of respect for being the parents of Jesus, especially Mary because she is the biological mother of Jesus.
