I've never purged the lists - if they're not active, the stream's front page truncates them from the list... Check the list under "settings" - they're almost all still there... People sometimes just stop using the site so much, and leave the community, that way... Several current "Owners" of the stream have gone inactive, too. All are welcome... it's up to them.
