This was apparently the first episode of a series called 'Little Qwests', which never got continued. It got me thinking of an idea for Swords, should it ever hit it big as a franchise: a comic book series focusing on Quest Sprout.
The premise is simple; Quest Sprout is given some quests, usually ones where he has to find a sword, and gets into some crazy adventures across the S'world! I imagine it being on a similar level as DuckTales (preferably the 2017 reboot) and Geronimo Stilton, with some fantasy mixed into it.
I can imagine the others (Momma Sprout, Granny, the tavern heroes, etc.) appearing as supporting/reoccurring characters who occasionally help Quest Sprout. Maybe other characters like Bread Knight, Harpe, and Sickle can make guest appearances, too!
A lot of the Quest Sprout episodes of Swords are titled "Quest Sprout and the X", so the titles of the comic books can be based on that wordplay.
Below are a few examples/ideas:
- 'Quest Sprout and the Crystal Cavern', in which he enters a cave of crystals to find the Sword of Summoning Rainbows (A sword with a glass prism for a blade).
- 'Quest Sprout and the Lost Tower', in which he finds an abandoned tower in the forest, and decides to explore it.
- 'Quest Sprout and the Fallen Magic Star', in which a little star falls from the skies of the Dream Realm, with Quest Sprout setting out to return it.
- 'Quest Sprout and the Fairy Tribe', in which he must help a group of fairies defend their village from an army of insects.
I'd definitely want Matthew to do something like this if he ever gets the chance to!
