more people should be hyping this, we are literally going to become an interplanetary species and people are just like "oh cool"

I mean its the same place we went to 50 years ago and they're not even landing they're just gonna circle it a few times and come back

I mean in the near future

Yeah but this time they're actually gonna stay and they have a sustainable program for it, they literally have a program where they pay companies to land stuff on the south pole which they obviously wouldn't have if they weren't staying

"interplanetary" and it's just circling around the moon

In the near future i mean

The moon is basically interplanetary space, since a lot of the issues you get with trying to go to the moon vs trying to go to mars are pretty much the same, most of the fuel cost comes from just trying to launch so much payload from earth

also the moon is very very big for a moon like almost as big as mercury

I agree with you, this is the first of many trips on 50 years and is the beginning of hopefully establishing a colony on the moon then going to mars.
