Back in 1954, the Comics Code Authority was created in response to a moral panic about comic books with gruesome imagery. One of tis rules stipulated that:
"Although slang and colloquialisms are acceptable, excessive use should be discouraged and, wherever possible, good grammar shall be employed."
That means you wouldn't be able to make a comic book summarizing the story of "My Fair Lady" (1964) and get a Comics Code Authority seal of approval.
